The Quarry House offers acaptivating spatial experience that unfolds in two distinct layers, each showcasing the inherent beauty and characteristics of the site in its own way.

From the moment visitors arrive, they are greeted with a dramatic contrast that sets the tone for the entire journey.

At the lower level, the entryway beckons visitors into an intimate and inward-looking space, characterized by diffused light and a tranquil water pool nestled within the vestiges of the quarry floor. This secluded setting creates a sense of serenity and introspection, inviting guests to pause and immerse themselves in the natural beauty of the surroundings.

Here, the focus is on celebrating the site’s unique features, with reflective bathing pools nestled under the foliage of trees, heightening the connection to nature. This lower level houses the living and celebratory spaces, providing a sanctuary for relaxation and contemplation.

As visitors ascend to the upper levels, a remarkable transformation occurs, revealing breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape and lakes. Suddenly, the house becomes extroverted, opening up to embrace the expansive vistas beyond.

The transition from the inward-looking lower level to the outward-looking upper levels is marked by a sense of awe and wonder, as the beauty of the natural surroundings unfolds before the eyes of the visitors.

An elaborate staircase and elevator serve as the conduits that connect the different levels of the house, seamlessly integrating the inward and outward-looking spaces. These vertical circulation elements not only provide practical access but also contribute to the overall architectural expression of the house, serving as sculptural elements that enhance the spatial experience.

In essence, the design of the Quarry House celebrates the inherent differences of the site without compromising on either of the two distinct experiences. By carefully orchestrating the transition between inward and outward-looking spaces, the house offers a harmonious balance between intimacy and expansiveness, creating a truly immersive and memorable living environment that celebrates the natural beauty of its surroundings.
